GroomIQ ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our App.

When you create an account, we collect:
- Email Address: Used for account authentication, communications, and password recovery.
- Password: Stored in hashed format (we never store plain-text passwords).
- Device ID: Used for single-session security and fraud prevention.
1.2 Dog Profile Data
You provide information about dogs you're working with:
- Dog Photos: Images you upload for AI analysis (stored securely on our servers).
- Dog Profile Information: Name, breed, age, grooming notes, and other optional details you provide.
1.3 Location Data
We collect location data only when you use specific features:
- Veterinarian/Groomer Search: When you search for nearby vets or groomers, we access your device's location via Google Places API.
- Permission-Based: Location access requires your explicit permission and is never collected without your consent.
- Not Stored: We do not store your precise location; it's used only for real-time search queries.
1.4 Subscription & Payment Data
Payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play):
- Subscription Status: We receive information about your subscription tier via RevenueCat.
- Purchase History: Apple/Google provides us with transaction IDs and subscription renewal dates.
- No Payment Details: We never receive or store your credit card or payment method details.
1.5 Usage Data
We automatically collect certain information when you use the App:
- Device type and operating system
- App version and crash reports
- Features used and time spent in the App
- Error logs and diagnostic data
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide AI-Powered Analysis: Process dog photos through OpenAI's API to generate grooming instructions.
- Manage Your Account: Authenticate users, maintain profiles, and sync data across devices.
- Process Subscriptions: Manage premium features and subscription billing via RevenueCat.
- Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix bugs.
- Provide Support: Respond to your inquiries and troubleshoot issues.
- Send Notifications: Deliver app updates and grooming tips (with your consent).
- Comply with Legal Obligations: Respond to legal requests and prevent fraud.
3. Third-Party Services
We share your information with the following trusted third-party services:
OpenAI (AI Analysis)
Dog photos are sent to OpenAI's API for breed identification and grooming analysis, per their Privacy Policy.
Google Places API (Location Services)
When you search for nearby vets/groomers, your location is shared with Google Places API, governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
Subscription data is managed via RevenueCat. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Apple / Google (Payment Processing)
All payments are processed by Apple or Google. We never handle payment details directly.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services:
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Dog Photos: Stored until you manually delete them or delete your account.
- Usage Logs: Retained for up to 12 months for analytics and troubleshooting.
- Purchase Records: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance (anonymized after account deletion).
5. Data Deletion
You have the right to delete your account and personal data at any time. See our Account Deletion Instructions for details.
- Your email, password, and dog profiles are permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Dog photos are removed from our servers.
- Purchase records are anonymized but retained for 7 years for legal/tax purposes.
- Subscription access ends immediately (no refunds for unused subscription time).
6. Children's Privacy
Our App is intended for users 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

- All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt (never stored in plain text).
- Dog photos are stored in secure, access-controlled cloud storage.
- We regularly audit our systems for vulnerabilities.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside of your jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page, updating the "Last updated" date, and sending an in-app notification or email for material changes.
